The origin of water skiing
The appearance of water skiing dates back to the 1920s in France by alpine hunters. They first started by being towed by a boat on boards. Later they swapped their boards for skis. After several failures, one of them decided to create much wider skis. It was only in 1937 that water skiing was exposed to the general public at the International Exhibition in Paris. Nowadays, water skiing is practiced on all five continents. Water skiing is practiced mainly during the summer season, from June to September. Having a good equipment will allow you to enjoy your session fully and safely. It is important to opt for a life jacket, it must be well adjusted so that it does not hinder movement and is comfortable.
You will then have to choose a pair of water skis. To begin with, it is advisable to start on wider skis to gain stability. Another essential accessory for the practice, it will be necessary to choose a rope adapted to the practice of water skiing. Finally, it is mandatory to hang a flame on your boat to signal to other boats the precedence of a towed skier.
Safe water-skiing
- - During a session, a co-pilot or observer must always be on board the vessel. His role is to warn the pilot in case the skier falls.
