1. On board the boat there is a pilot and a co-pilot of at least 16 years of age (the co-pilot has to look at the towed person at all times and devote himself only to that).

Buoyancy aid

The European standard classifies and approves the vests according to their buoyancy for a person weighing 70kg. Buoyancy is measured in Newton (N). There are 4 levels of approval: 50N, 100N, 150N and 275N. A 50N vest helps buoyancy up to 50 Newtons (5.1 kilograms). The higher the buoyancy index of a vest, the more effective it is. Lifejackets are referred to as lifejackets starting at 100N. Below that is called a buoyancy aid vest.

For water skiing, the required buoyancy index in Europe is 50N. This buoyancy aid helps to keep the airways of a conscious person who can swim out of the water.
